Marbin (Clinic and Show)

MARBIN is a progressive jazz-rock band based in Chicago, IL, with a unique story that stands out in today’s music world. With a do-it-yourself approach, Marbin started touring extensively in 2011, bringing their original instrumental music to every part of the United States. Through word of mouth, Marbin has gained hundreds of thousands of devoted fans all over the world and has sold tens of thousands of albums. Marbin has released eight albums: Marbin (2009), Breaking the Cycle (2011), Last Chapter of Dreaming (2013), The Third Set (2014), Aggressive Hippies (2015), Goatman and the House of the Dead (2016), Israeli Jazz (2018), Strong Thing (2019), and the double album Russian Dolls + Ten Years in the Sun (2020). Marbin regularly plays in clubs all over the US and in jam and jazz festivals around the world.
Clinic: In the workshop, Marbin is going to explore their process of improvising, composing, and arranging. From the way they use Solkattu (Indian Solfege) to enrich their rhythmical vocabulary, to the unique harmonic system they apply when improvising over various structures and styles. Marbin will also share their expertise in the field of music business and explain, with many fun stories and anecdotes, how they built a fusion band into a viable business over the course of a decade.

PARKING INFO: Parking is available underneath Neonopolis from 4th street and Fremont, the ramp is on the right side of the street just past Denny’s. Park on level P2. Once parked, take the parking elevator from the parking garage up to the 3rd floor. Notoriety’s doors are straight ahead once you come off of the elevator.
